Prior to EDI he served nine years as vice president of a mid-cap public E & P company, and president of Primary Petroleum Development, Inc., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, a petroleum operating and consulting firm. Mr. Wilson holds a petroleum engineering degree from the University of Oklahoma. He was selected as a member of LKOT, a high honor for engineering students, BMOC three consecutive years, and in 1974 was named to PE-ET, top ten senior men at the University of Oklahoma. He has held several engineering, supervisory and management positions with Amoco Production Company and Exxon Company USA. While with Amoco in Denver, he served as a director for the Amoco Credit Union and also chaired the credit committee. Mr. Wilson is a member of the Cherokee Nation Indian Tribe.
He has served on the American Petroleum Institute Committee on Reserves, has worked in numerous committee and officer capacities for The Society of Petroleum Engineers and the IPAA Natural Gas and Communications Committee. In December 1994, Mr. Wilson participated in a series of seminars teaching U.S. oil and gas practices to Russian petroleum ministers and professionals on behalf of the U.S. State Department. For the past few years, he has traveled numerous times to Europe and The United Kingdom to teach his classes.
He has spoken before such groups as the Oklahoma State Senate Select Committee on Natural Gas Practices, the Oklahoma Natural Gas Policy Commission, the National Association of Royalty Owners, Petroleum Accounting Society of Houston, National Association of Lease & Title Analysts as well as numerous other notable gatherings of technical and financial professionals. In 1998, one of his seminars to the OKC chapter of the American Association of Professional Landmen won best educational program in a national competition. He has been an instructor for the popular NAPE Institute in Houston and a regular featured speaker at various financial firm energy conferences in New York.
Mr. Wilson has taught as an adjunct professor for the University of Oklahoma Michael F. Price College of Business Administration since 1987 and served previously as a guest lecturer. In 1999, he received special recognition for his long service to the Price College of Business and in 2000 was named to the Board of Academic Advisors for the Energy Management Program at OU. Mr. Wilson in 2008 began teaching for the University of Tulsa Energy Managment program.
In addition to his work in oil and gas, Mr. Wilson, an identical twin, has also participated in several studies of twins. He has appeared on national television shows including A Closer Look with Faith Daniels and a photographic appearance on CBS's 48 Hours. He was a featured subject in Dr. Nancy Segal's groundbreaking book, Entwined Lives. In 1997, he consulted with Turner Original Productions and Frederic Golding, 1995 Oscar-nominated documentary director and producer, in the making of Twin Stories which aired on national television. He is currently writing a book about his twin experience.
